Australian Trade Mark Search is the Australian Government’s trade mark search system.
Please note that the results of any search you conduct should not be relied upon, because any subsequent application you make will still be subject to a search by a trade mark examiner as part of the assessment process. That process may reveal new materials and information you did not find. IP Australia is not liable for any action taken and expense incurred in using this service.
A detailed disclaimer can be found here.
This will search across trade marks and their owner names. Although it will also find plurals, you should search for slight variations of your trade mark, such as common misspellings and words that sound similar. When uploading images, consider alternative images that look similar. You can filter your results in the search results screen, or undertake more specific searches using Advanced search.
More information can be found here.
To search for words in trade marks, type the relevant words into the search box.
Note: Word searching is very precise. An effective trade mark search should consider slight variations of your trade mark, including plurals, common misspellings and trade marks that sound or look very similar. Consider if you are searching too specifically, and try searching some variations.

To search for trade marks with image elements, upload an image. The search will return results based on the visual similarity of the images.
An effective trade mark search should identify trade marks that are similar to your own, not just identical matches.
You can upload an image and search using words at the same time.
Note: Combining words and images together may create a very specific and narrow search. For example, excluding results with a very similar image but different words. When searching multiple aspects of your trade mark at the same time, consider if you are searching too narrowly. You may want to instead consider searching each memorable and important part of your trade mark separately.
Searching for words in the box above will return results that contain those words in the trade mark's owner name, as well as those words in the trade mark itself.
Note: This search is very precise. Consider if you are searching names too specifically, and try searching some variations if the results are not as expected (e.g. Cath will not find Catherine).
If you already know the numbers of trade marks you want to find, you can search for those directly.
Note: This search box will find results of Australian trade mark numbers as well as International Registration (IR) numbers.
